Eileen

Chronic proximal hamstring tendinopathy · Chicago Marathon build
Why she was stuck

Eileen had been dealing with chronic proximal hamstring tendinopathy through multiple training blocks. She'd already tried traditional PT, chiropractic care, shockwave, manual therapy, and more. Even so, she still couldn't push her speed, train, or race the way she wanted.

What changed

Her plan combined rehab, progressive strength work, and run programming built around her Chicago build, so her hamstring could adapt to the training she actually wanted to do.

Where she is now

The strongest and healthiest she's felt since the injury, and training for a Chicago PR.

“Logged 3 consecutive 50+ mile weeks. Virtually no pain on my 6 mile recovery run today! Still doing your exercises!”
“YOU are the best! I’ve never felt better or more hopeful about hitting that PR in 6 wks”
Eileen, in messages to her coach. Individual results vary.

Meet Dr. Brittany Zuback

I've been the athlete who wanted more than “feel better.”

I'm Dr. Brittany Zuback, a sports rehab chiropractor and strength coach. I'm an athlete too. I played Division I and professional hockey, and I've been through my own hip injuries, so I'm genuinely passionate about helping runners get back to training, not just out of pain.

Here at Proactive Sports Rehab, we believe in an individualized approach built around each runner's body, training, and goals, because generic rehab simply doesn't get you back to the mileage, speed, and racing you want.

I bring an athlete's structure and accountability into every program. We pinpoint what's actually relevant to you, condition you for the demands of your running, and educate you so you can make confident training decisions on your own. Having helped hundreds of runners, marathoners, ultrarunners, triathletes, and hybrid athletes, we pride ourselves on high quality coaching that gets people back to training, long term.

Talk With a Running Rehab Coach
Got questions?

Frequently asked questions

What happens on the discovery call?
It's a short, no-pressure conversation. We'll talk about what's been going on, what you've already tried, how it's affecting your training, and what you want to get back to. I'll tell you honestly whether my approach fits and what the next step could look like. It isn't a free treatment session or diagnosis, and you won't be pressured to sign up.
Is the call really free? Do I have to sign up?
The call is free with no obligation. Coaching is a paid, individualized service, so if we're a good fit, I'll explain how it works and what the next step would be.
Why do I answer a few questions first?
A few quick questions let me understand what you're dealing with before we talk, so the call is useful from the first minute. They also help me point you to the right next step, which isn't always coaching.
I've already done PT. Why would this be different?
Good PT can help a lot, but the gap I see most is between “my symptoms settled” and “my body can handle the training I want to do.” Rehab can end before that second part. We build from where it left off, with progressive strength, smart running adjustments, and gradual exposure to your real training demands.
Do I have to stop running?
Not automatically. When it's appropriate, we adjust volume, intensity, or terrain so you can keep running while you rebuild. Some situations, like a suspected bone stress injury, need a different approach, and I'll tell you honestly if that's you. If your pain is sharp, getting worse, or waking you at night, get evaluated by a medical provider first.
What if I've had this for years?
That's common among the runners I work with, many of whom have been through several rounds of rest and treatment. A longer history usually means it's worth understanding what your body can currently tolerate and building from there. I can't promise a timeline, but we can talk through your history on the call.
What if I have an MRI diagnosis?
An MRI finding doesn't automatically mean you can't train or work with me. Imaging is one piece of the picture, alongside how you move, your strength, and your training history. Bring the report to the call, and I'll be upfront if something needs a medical provider's input first.
Is this only for elite runners?
No. I work with recreational runners, marathoners, ultrarunners, triathletes, and hybrid athletes. If you have a training goal, from your first half marathon to Boston, and you're willing to strength train, this is built for you.
How does online coaching work?
Everything happens online, so you can work with me from anywhere. You'll get a detailed assessment, a custom plan built around your running and goals inside the PSR app, and direct messaging, form reviews, and ongoing feedback along the way. Your plan changes as you do.
